The innovation

The core of this program is the use of cartoons as educational material or as a way to raise the children’s awareness of ecology-oriented matters. The cartoons are not only used as a starting point but they also represent a challenge for the students.

The material

Ecology-oriented cartoons by the awarded cartoonist Michalis Kountouris.

The idea

The philological, aesthetical – artistic and ecological interpretation of the material.

The result

The participating students created their own texts, cartoons or other art works concerning ecology. All the material (sketches by Michalis Kountouris, art works, students’ sketches and texts, other audiovisual material) are found in the blog created specifically for this program.

During the implementation of the program, the teachers in charge observed that the students’ responsiveness was impressive. It must be noted that the program was particularly successful with children facing learning difficulties, who consider writing as an obstacle to their expression.
